The first experiments with synthesizers and electronic sounds appeared in Greece during the 80’s, influenced by international trends such as new wave and synth-pop.

Vangelis Papathanasiou is the leading figure of the Greek electronic scene, with international recognition and an Academy Award. Stereo Nova, with Michalis Delta and Konstantinos Vita, revolutionized the domestic scene in the 1990s with albums such as “Discolata”, combining electronic sounds with Greek lyrics.

In the modern era, artists such as Larry Gus, Keep Shelly in Athens, Sofia Kounadi and JNXD have gained international recognition. Festivals like Reworks in Thessaloniki have helped develop a vibrant electronic music community in Greece, keeping the legacy of the pioneers alive.
