The company was founded in the late 80’s with the main purpose of developing an expanded network of sales and distribution of audio carriers (vinyl CD’s etc.), while during the 90’s it developed in the market, making recordings of all kinds of Greek music.
In 2004 it was one of the first record labels in Greece to add digital distribution to its network, gaining access for its repertoire to all legal digital sales websites. Today, it continues to renew its repertoire (new artists, music competitions) while following the new standards (social media, music streaming, etc.).
FM currently has a catalogue of more than 30,000 songs! It has created a large catalogue that includes all genres of Greek music and includes the rights of many important Greek composers (such as Mikis Theodorakis), as well as a “World Music” archive with music by the leading composers (Vangelis Papathanasiou, Goran Bregovic etc.) and music from different parts of the world (Roma music, Balkan, Mediterranean, Russian, Asian and African music).
FM Records was the only Greek label that was not missing from any international music festival such as Midem, Womex etc., so in this way it internationalized its artists and its repertoire in general.
She invested very early on in the process of digitizing her entire catalogue, with the result that her repertoire has been sold successfully online worldwide since mid-2004. The sale and distribution (as well as promotion) is done online, making it possible to make the music immediately available worldwide. The FM Records label is recognised worldwide and many songs from its catalogue have been included in world-renowned music collections, theatre shows, TV series and commercials, documentaries and films.
