Oud virtuoso , multi-instrumentalist , composer , arranger, producer and singer , Thomas Konstantinou plays a mix of East and West creating his own musical style and character. His influences are both contemporary and traditional with oud in the center of his musical world.
Born 1980 in Athens-Greece, Thomas Konstantinou grew up in a folk music family with his father inspiring him in his first musical steps.
He started on piano at the age of 6 moving to Oud , Greek Lute , mandolin and various greek instruments , studied European and Byzantine music and met important Greek , Turkish and Armenian Oud masters such us , Nikos Saragoudas , Yurdal Tokcan , Necati Celik and Ara Dinkjan.
He collaborated as a soloist and arranger with important Greek and international artists like Calexico , Eric Burdon , Shantel , Nana Mouskouri ,Eleni Karaindrou ,Eleftheria Arvanitaki ,Charis Alexiou, in live performances around the world (Carnegie Hall , Royal Albert Hall , Sidney Opera House , Odeon of Herodes Attikus , Vienner Konzerthouse , Berliner Philarmonie etc. in discography ,TV and Cinema.
In 2001 he founded the ethnic band TAKIM with six distinguished Greek musicians, recorded two albums and performed in festivals and venues around Greece (Greek Festival , Athens Concert Hall , Christmas Theater etc.)
He is also member of “Chronos Project” with lead singer Dimitra Galani along with international musicians.
Since 2016 he works as an Oud professor at the University of Athens.
