For the first time in history 1000 choirs from 30 cities of Greece formed a huge choir, which accompanied by Symphonic Mandolinata performed some of the masterpieces of Mikis Theodorakis.
The tribute to the chorus Mikis Theodorakis premiered at the Athens Concert Hall with two unforgettable performances, the excerpts of which were exhausted in a few hours and continued with a historic concert at the Kallimarmaro Stadium in front of 50,000 spectators.
Orchestration and musical direction were undertaken by the conductor Panagis Barbati.
There were extracts from the main poetic circles that the great Greek composer has been performing.
Among others: “Small Cyclades”, “Axion Esti”, “Epiphany”, “Beautiful City”, “Archipelagos”, “State”, “Depositors”, “Greetings” and “Neighborhood of the Angels”, all in choral adaptation of Panagi Barbati.
In addition to the 1000 choirs and the Symphonic Mandolin, the screenwriters included Giannis Stankoğlou, Ioanna Pappa, the lyric artists Gina Fotinopoulou, Eleni Voudouraki, Antonis Koronaios, Babis Velissarios, Pantelis Kontos and the popular singer Gerasimos Andreatos.
This event was made after the wish of Mikis Theodorakis himself, who was also the director of the concert.
