Press Release
The record company FM Records, with which I have the honor to collaborate, prepares a great tribute to Mikis Theodorakis, both with Zorbas and with his newer works.
Production / tribute to the internationally acclaimed composer will be featured mainly abroad and especially in the USA. Mr. Nikos Kourtis, personally asked me to play in this tribute, representing the musical culture through Mikis Theodorakis, Greece, my native place, Cyprus, but also the long-standing tradition of playing female stringed musical instruments of the family of the tamboura, as is today the bouzouki.
Although the ancient pandurrians and the women of the Byzantine and Ottoman period were playing these instruments, in the modern era the practice diminished. . To me, FM Records, a master / soloist of the bouzouki, and commissioning me to play Zorba for a worldwide re-presentation of the work, with a sense of aesthetic woman, on the one hand, is a maximum personal honor, on the other hand, I am honored by all women Pandourites of the story, but also all the modern women who broke the stereotypes and regained the pandora / tamboura / bouzouki in their hands with claims.
For all the above, I personally thank Mr. Kourtis and FM Records.
Text: Dr. Dimitris Stathakopoulos (Sociology of History – Panteion University,Ottoman society / history and culture – Diploma of Byzantine music ).
The recording of the album was made in the studio of George Synnos: “my concert recording studio”, Limassol, Final master at High-End Studio R-Mic Athens by Dr. Makey (ASCAP) 2019.
